Western Australia officially has a brand-new racetrack for motorsport fans! About 400 km from Perth, a new paved circuit was inaugurated in May 2026, with cars riding on it for the first time. This marks the first racing circuit at the Albany Motorsport Park, located 20 km from Albany CBD.
The park is the third permanent circuit in the west, after MotorMall Wannermoo Raceway and Collie Motorplex. Read more about this latest stride in motorsport in WA below.
Albany Motorsport Park is now open

The City of Albany has had a long relationship with motorsport. In 1936, the Western Australian Sporting Car Club organised the inaugural Albany Tourist Trophy race, paving the way for such events. Now, 90 years later, the Albany Motorsport Park offers the infrastructure to support budding racing enthusiasts.
Phase 1A of the park was completed in 2024. But the newest development (Phase 1B) includes a 1.09 km sealed Northern Circuit. The final layout of the full circuit will be 3.25 km long and 12 m wide. Once finished, the circuit can be split into two separate circuits, as seen in the plan above.
2024 saw the construction of the motocross dirt circuit, clubhouse and off-road/4WD training areas. However, the next stage required an additional $2.67 million from the Western Australian Government ($8.42 million total). Additionally, the Commonwealth Government contributed nearly $5 million in all.
Based on a 192-hectare facility on the down road, the Park is a joint project between the City of Albany and the Great Southern Motorplex group Inc. To this end, the two entities signed a 20-year contract in 2022.
Coincidentally, the opening happened on the same weekend as the Albany Classic ‘Round the Houses’ street meet and the Mount Clarence Hillclimb. In fact, the motocross park (opened in 2024) also saw a major meetup.
As of publication, Albany Classic Motorsport Inc., Albany 4WD Club, and Albany Motocross Club support the park.
