A Tribute to Queen
Discover Queen’s world-famous, beloved rock anthems in an entirely new realm on Saturday July 2. This iconic band has reached and inspired generations with their music, and now Dolce Ensemble’s String Quintet is breathing new life into old classics.
Joined by a fifth member on drums, the quintet will perform a medley of Queen’s most revered numbers, such as ‘Don’t Stop Me Now’ and ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’. Surrounded by life-size projections of the timeless masterpiece that is the Sistine Chapel, it is guaranteed to be an evening to remember.
Vivaldi’s Four Seasons
Be transported on a musical journey through the four seasons with Perth’s renowned Baroque orchestra, Australian Baroque. On Friday July 8, this remarkable string septet will give spine-tingling renditions of Vivaldi’s iconic violin concertos, surrounded by Michelangelo’s Renaissance masterpiece.
Prepare to be inspired as you spend an evening captivated by the creations of two great Italian artists. Revel in sweet spring birdsong before welcoming the scorching summer sun, then celebrate the rich autumn harvest before being carried through the shimmery winter snow. A Tribute to ABBA
In this candlelight tribute to everyone’s favourite Swedish pop sensation, you will hear wonderful reimaginings of ABBA’s best hits. Originally from Stolkholm, this fantastic foursome are responsible for some of the most popular sing-alongs of all time. Head to Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel: The Exhibition on Saturday July 9 to experience the magic for yourself.
From ‘Mamma Mia’ to ‘Dancing Queen’ to ‘Waterloo’, you will be moved by the classical renditions of their very best songs. And just as the stellar string quintet will capture every note in its intended glory, you will be able to pour over every intricate detail of the Sistine Chapel while you listen, because of the special printing technique used to emulate the paintings.
Each concert will be performed twice in the evening, once at 6.30pm and again at 8.30pm. Doors will also open half an hour prior, so you can savour every last moment when exploring the exhibition. And, you will take home a complimentary souvenir guide featuring each frescoed wall, so you can continue to admire its beauty at home!
