Candlelight Tribute to Joe Hisaishi
Unwind in a candlelit setting and allow yourself to relive your favourite on-screen moments from some of the over 100 films he has scored throughout his career. The famous Japanese composer blends emotional depth, classical and more modern techniques to create something spectacular. From Spirited Away to Princess Mononoke and Howl’s Moving Castle, the talented orchestra will take you on a musical journey to their fictional worlds guided by Hisaishi’s works.
Leading the orchestra will be the world renowned conductor Graeme Press. Aside from his role as Network 7’s Music Director for Carols In The Domain, Graeme Press is held in high-regard as composer, arranger and clinician around the world. For Candlelight, he has already presented the works of iconic film composer, Hans Zimmer. But this spring, Winthrop Hall will be lit up by hundreds of candles, creating a perfect fit for the Hisaishi’s dramatic notes.
This spectacular Candlelight tribute takes place at Winthrop Hall (University of Western Australia). The Candlelight orchestra will be working their magic on Joe Hisiashi’s most adored tracks while hundreds of candles light up this beautiful setting.
There will be two phenomenal performances on the evening, one at 6:45pm and another at 8:45pm.
