If you’re an avid pub goer or a resident of the western suburbs, you’ve probably heard the news that The Claremont Hotel has been reborn.
The local institution swung its doors back open to the public on 16 January 2023 after its mammoth refurbishment by Perth architecture practice, Fratelle whose task was to reenvision the corner pub as a modern hospitality venue whilst respecting the property’s heritage.
While the first hotel on the site opened in 1886 it was sadly knocked down, to make space for the current building that was constructed in 1902 to the Federation Filigree style. The Claremont has seen a plethora of transformations in its 120-plus year history, and now it’s the 21st Century’s turn.
The Claremont Hotel was acquired in 2022 by Australia’s second largest pub operator, Australian Venue Company and now sees a radically re-designed space with sports bars, lounges, a bistro, kids’ play areas, a rooftop dining terrace, and function spaces, all wrapped by original balconies and newly created open-air dining and relaxing terraces.
Subtle finishes lick the space with terrazzo, timber, waxed plaster and extensive greenery across the two levels, bringing back the elegance of its early years. And without further ado, take a look at The Claremont Hotel’s grand makeover.
The results are clear, and The Claremont Hotel is set to become a hotspot once again for Perth’s discerning folk seeking a place to gather, have a drink or meal, and relax in style.
