This winter in Perth it’s all about festivals of light, technology, and some brilliant displays of creativity; namely Lightscape in Kings Park, Strange Festival in the CBD, and now, Fever Dream in Langley Park.
Across Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 June, renowned puppetry company, Curious Legends are bringing their enchanting, interactive, and immersive experience, Fever Dream to Perth for the first time which sees a parade of giant illuminated puppets and free workshops.
The production traces the journey of a fever of stingrays exploring the ocean, with a breathtaking line-up that includes a magnificent 10-meter-long stingray, soaring aerial creations, a majestic 5-meter-tall river spirit, and local community-made illuminated stingray puppets.
Both the Saturday and Sunday festivities will begin at 4pm, where a two-hour workshop led by the talented artists invite you to make your own handheld stingrays and join in on the main show at 6:15pm – expect soaring pelicans, laughing giants, and hugely wicked mud crabs.
You won’t be going hungry either, a line-up of local food trucks will be serving up their goods to warm you from the inside out – tuck in before the Welcome to Country at 6pm!
Curious Legends, hailing from Newcastle, comprises of 20 artists, including six core members, and 14 local artists from Perth. Leading the creative vision for Fever Dream is Mitchell Reese, the Artistic Director, and Writer of Curious Legends.
“We initially created the puppets for Fever Dream to connect with stories from the Newcastle Worimi community in our Newcastle show, Gimbay Gatigaan. Fever Dream represents the next evolution of this story and offers an immersive outdoor experience that is fitting for the City of Light,” Mitchell shares.
Both the workshops and spectacle of Fever Dream are free, but registrations are essential.
Fever Dream calls people of all ages to be swept into the awe-inspiring journey of sound, imagination, and light at Langley Park on both Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 June from 4pm onwards.
