The 2026 FIFA World Cup is almost upon us. The inaugural match takes place on Friday, June 12 (3 am AWST) and boy, are we excited to see what the lads cook up this year! Not all of us can make the treacherous 20+ hour journey to North America, however. And while one can watch at home, nothing beats watching the World Cup alongside other enthusiastic Aussie fans. Arguably, one of the best places to see a World Cup match is at the Northbridge Piazza. Located at the corner of Lake and James Street, the Superscreen will showcase all matches inside a marquee shelter. But the Socceroos get a little special treatment. On days the Aussies play, the City of Perth will provide beanbags, family-friendly activities, and other amenities along with security to manage large crowds.
Australia’s first three matches will be against Turkey, the USA, and Paraguay on June 12, 20, and 26, respectively. Pubs and bars where you can catch matches
In case you prefer a pint while watching the FIFA World Cup, you could watch the matches from any of our favourite sports bars or pubs in and around Perth. Crown Sports Bar, located on the Crown Casino floor in Burswood, is screening all the matches. Grab your mates and go cheer on the Socceroos at this iconic spot!
Perth’s first Brewdog in West Perth offers spacious indoor and outdoor seating, a beer garden, and 20 taps running throughout the night. Most importantly, its World Cup Fan Zone features giant screens, stadium sound, and a chance to win the latest team kit. Patriot Sports Bar, the Claremont, and the Globe are some other spots where you can enjoy the World Cup.
