Freo is back at it with yet another exciting event this winter. As WA’s principal port city and a stone’s throw from Perth, Fremantle is a cultural hub. Now, the city brings back one of the most exciting food fetes in the state, the Fremantle Truffle Festival, from 10-12 July 2026. Here’s everything you need to know about this upcoming event.
Black truffles galore at the Fremantle Truffle Festival!
Western Australian truffles are highly regarded globally, with the region being the world’s fourth-largest producer. Produced mainly in Manjimup and Pemberton, black truffles are in season from May to September. The Fremantle Truffle Festival attempts to bring these flavour bombs to the crowd closer to home, and how!
This year promises to be its biggest yet. Premium black truffles take centre stage at truffle-forward menus, curated chef experiences, weekend markets, and even special gourmet events that tantalise all senses.
Great Southern Truffles has curated a three-course dinner and presentation on opening night. Additionally, it hosts the Truffle House festival marquee near Markets on Henderson Street featuring tastings, cooking demonstrations, artisan products and premium truffle goods. You can also peruse the Fremantle Markets, where a truffle-inspired showdown will take place. Exclusive truffle-activated fare is expected, with the dishes only available during the festival.
If you’re a dog lover, you will enjoy the Truffle Dog Hunt Demo. Specially trained pooches sniff for truffles in a live demonstration, and this experience is free, so don’t miss it. There are many other truffle-centric events in and around Freo.

Getting there
It is easiest to take State Route 2 and Canning Highway/State Route 6 for Freo. Then, turn to Parry Street to reach the Fremantle Markets at South Terrace & Henderson Street. The drive will take anywhere between 25 and 30 minutes, depending on the traffic. All other festival venues will be within walking distance.
