It’s that time of year where we celebrate the best in the Australian music scene.
Voting for the Triple J Hottest 100 has officially closed. If you got your votes in on time, great. But if not, that’s completely fine too. We’ll all get to tune in this weekend to count down the best songs that’ve been played on Triple J in 2021, as voted by Australians. Now before we get into what events are going down in Perth this weekend for the countdown, let’s start off with what the Secret Media Australia writers have voted for this year.
MONTERO (Call Me By Your Name) by Lil Nas X and Waiting Game by G Flip came up high on my top ten, whereas Take My Breath by The Weeknd and We Are Midnight by DMA’s hit Nicole’s top ten. Then, Delicious Things by Wolf Alice and Next To Me by RÜFÜS DU SOL were among Ria’s favourites! What were yours?
If you’re not meeting at a mate’s place this Saturday for the Hottest 100 countdown, there’s venues aplenty in Perth throwing events for you to sing along to your favourites and have a cheeky boogie while you’re at it. The Indian Ocean Hotel is hosting an epic pool party for the countdown from 10am – 5pm and COAST Port Beach a beach party, which sounds pretty damn fun. Then we’ve got Hottest 100 parties at Mojo’s Bar, The Lookout Bar, and Convenients.
The Hottest 100 will run on Saturday January 22nd from 12pm AEST. On Friday January 21st from 10am local Triple J will be playing the 200-100 songs of the countdown. Then on Sunday January 23 from 12pm AEST, Double J will play the Hottest 100 from 2001.
