Located about 42 km from Perth CBD, a local golf course might soon see a major revamp with new facilities. With a technology-powered hitting range, mini golf, night golf and new hospitality spaces, the Kwinana Golf Course is on its way to becoming a premium destination for amateur and pro players. The City will soon refurbish the Kwinana Golf Course
Aiming to position Kwinana as a destination for golf enthusiasts, the City of Kwinana Council decided to manage the golf course at the April Ordinary Council Meeting. Long-term goals include redevelopment, supporting community access to the Kwinana Golf Course, and ensuring lasting infrastructure for golf enthusiasts in and around the city limits.
While the golf course is a beautiful space, the present clubhouse, sprinkler and irrigation systems, and other amenities are nearing the end of their lifespan. In that respect, the City’s decision is bound to bring investment into an ageing facility.
With no concrete plans yet, the timeline of this expected upgrade is unclear. Nonetheless, there will be improvements to the clubhouse, new event spaces, and enhanced practice and coaching facilities. Additionally, ideas involving a 9-hole executive course under lights, mini golf, and even a tech-operated driving range are being floated.
Moreover, the city council hopes to make the Golf Course more accessible. Whether or not the city near Perth becomes the next “it” place for the popular sport remains to be seen. Mayor Peter Feasey hopes that it will reflect how golf is enjoyed, according to the City of Kwinana. He added that it will boost local tourism, connections, lifestyles, and the economy.
