Gelato Messina is doing ice cream right, and now the whole country gets to try.
From one store in Darlinghurst to supermarket freezers across Australia, it’s safe to say that Gelato Messina has seen pretty consistent growth over the years and a fanbase that continuously expands. It’s part of the reason why last year’s Peters Drumstick collab was a huge success. If you missed out, bad luck because those four cones are long gone from supermarket freezer shelves.
But that’s okay because Messina has teamed up once again with Peters in order to develop and produce a permanent supermarket range. To say I’m excited is a bloody-damn understatement. I’m damn-well freaking bursting with excitement because no longer do I need to trek out to one of Gelato Messina’s nineteen stores to get my indulgent fix.
After a year of research by teams at both Gelato Messina and Peters, as well as many trials and errors in trying to perfect the ultimate supermarket ice cream, three new flavours will be hitting Coles, Woolworths and independent supermarkets across the country. They will be sold in packs of four at $10, so if you’re like me and can’t wait to try them all, well, you’ll have $30 worth of ice cream sitting in your freezer at home. They won’t last long, though.
The three flavours created by Messina are…
Choc Hazelnut Gelato Bar ‐ cocoa gelato, layered with chocolate biscuit and Messina‐made hazelnut sauce, enrobed in hazelnut choc.
Espresso Dulce De Leche Gelato Bar ‐ espresso gelato, biscuit and gooey Messina‐made Dulce de Leche centre, enrobed in a milk choc.
Strawberry Cheesecake Gelato Bar ‐ lemon-infused gelato, biscuit and strawberry sauce, enrobed in pink choc.
Important to note, none of these will be sold in Messina stores so the only way you’ll be able to get your hot little hands on these gifts from god is by doing your weekly shop.
