Perth is slowly becoming a hub of worldclass theatre, and honestly, we’re all here for it! A slew of upcoming musicals in 2026 have us very excited for this year. Notably, Pretty Woman: The Musical has been running at Burswood’s Crown Theatre through April and May.
The second half of the year promises a few other fabulous Broadway musicals at the premium Perth venue, including MJ: The Michael Jackson Musical, Beetlejuice The Musical, and a return of Aussie-favourite The Book of Mormon. Read on for more details about the city’s upcoming musical shows.
MJ: The Michael Jackson Musical
With all the renewed King of Pop fervour on the heels of the biographical film Michael, MJ: The Michael Jackson Musical is set to start shows at Crown Theatre in June. Set during Jackson’s groundbreaking Dangerous World Tour in 1992, it chronicles the life of the popstar. Striving to go beyond the iconic dance moves and signature sound, this musical was created by Tony Award®-winning director-choreographer Christopher Wheeldon and two-time Pulitzer Prize winner Lynn Nottage.

Beetlejuice The Musical
Say the word “Beetlejuice” three times and awaken a mysterious beast from the underworld, learns teenager Lydia Deetz. Fed up with her parents and a recently passed away pair, she calls upon a demon for his expertise. With Broadway’s Andy Karl playing the eponymous Beetlejuice and Aussie Eddie Perfect‘s unbeatable score, Beetlejuice The Musical will grace the Crown Theatre stage in 2026.
While this upcoming musical will only start shows on August 16, tickets for the first performances are already on sale. Based on Tim Burton’s 1988 classic of the same name starring the late Catherine O’Hara, Beetlejuice will run for a month till September 6.
The Book of Mormon
South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone with Robert Lopez (two-time EGOT winner) conceived this riotous show in 2011. Beloved by Australians and awarded nine Tony Awards®, The Book of Mormon is about a pair of mismatched American missionaries chosen to spread the word in a remote Ugandan village.
