This week, Western Australia announced that we’ll be finally reopening our borders with the rest of Australia on February 5, 2022 (at this stage). But that’s not the only news that will have travellers cheering. Qantas has announced that they will be launching a direct flight route from Perth to Rome next June in an Australia-first. So it’s time to dust off your passport because it’s looking like a European summer could be on the cards next year.
Running from June 22 to October 6 for the peak European holiday season, the new 16-hour Sydney-Perth-Rome flights will jet off three times a week, on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday, becoming the fastest way to travel to Rome. This will be a game-changer for WA residents wanting to reconnect with families over in Europe, or for a much-needed getaway from the state’s hard border closure this year.
Flights from Perth to Rome are on sale now from $1649 return, so why not treat yourself to a Christmas gift in the form of a booking confirmation? Alongside the announcement of the direct flight link with Rome, Qantas will also resume their direct flights from Perth to London in April next year, just in case you didn’t want to wait until June to embark on an overseas adventure.
