The Men’s World Cup in Qatar is just days away from beginning. Fans from around the world will soon be flocking to the Gulf state to enjoy the beautiful game, which this year is taking place in the Northern Hemisphere’s winter—one of the lesser controversies of this year’s competition. However, remaining true to the history of the game is next year’s Women’s World Cup and it’s being co-hosted by Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand.
That’s massive for this part of the world—just as massive as Matilda’s superstar Sam Kerr donning the cover of Fifa 23, the first time a female player appeared on the global cover of the game franchise, was for the Women’s game. But anyway, more importantly, FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023™ single match passes are now on sale!
The presale ticket phase ended with fans from exactly 100 nations purchasing tickets. It truly is the world game. So far, the countries with the most number of residents/tickets purchased are Australia, Aotearoa New Zealand, the United States of America, England, China PR, Canada, Qatar, Germany, the Republic of Ireland, and France. It’s going to be a big one and we’re getting excited.
The Women’s World Cup 2023 kicks off on 20 July 2023 at Eden Park in Auckland/Tāmaki Makarau with the final being played in Sydney/Gadigal one month later on 20 August 2023. You can check out the entire match fixture here.
The Matildas are in Group B with the Republic of Ireland, Nigeria and Canada. They will play on the opening night (second game) in Sydney/Gadigal against the Republic of Ireland followed by matches against Nigeria in Brisbane/Meaanjin and Canada in Melbourne/Naarm on 27 July and 31 July respectively.
