A good burger really just hits the spot sometimes, there’s no doubt about it. And how about it – National Burger Day is just around the corner, on May 28 to be exact; so we asked you and your fellow West Aussies where to find the best burgers in Perth, and the people have spoken. So, here are 14 of the best burgers in Perth to get all drippy.
1. That Plant Cafe, Kelmscott
That Plant Cafe is located right in the heart of Kelmscott and is adorned with you guessed it, plants, which are up for grabs mind you. They’ve got the food and they’ve got the foliage at this family owned and operated cafe and gift store, and apparently delicious burgers too. Tuck into a selection of seven burgers with the likes of: the meat monster; bacon cheeseburger; and the Canadian – to name a few.

2. BurgerFreak, Belmont
BurgerFreak has most definitely got the drip – it’s almost a little sensual. Very convinineltly located right near the beloved Belmont Oasis, BurgerFreak is the perfect post-pool snackccident. Their burgers are innovative and the names and descriptions will be sure to make the mouth water. For example, the chucky cheesesteak consisting of a lacey edge smash patty, double provlone cheese, shaved beef rump, sweet and sour peppers and onions, house-made jalapeno cheese whizz, and aioli on a toasted brioche bun – wowee.

3. Fusion Cafe on Loch, Nedlands
This one just might’ve slipped under your radar. Fusion Cafe on Loch is well-known local, and looks like it should become yours too. The corner store serves a whole heap of different goodies, hence the ‘fusion’ – don’t be scared, just roll with it. From sushi and popcorn chicken to soft serves and of course, burgers. Tuck into a BBQ chicken burger, or perhaps a triple meat burger.

4. The Kwinana Local, Kwinana
The Kwinana Local is a one-stop-shop for all your bar, bottle-o, and bistro needs – a smart-casual pub, if you will with a patio and lounge bar, boasting rock band nights and DJs sets. The burgers however look a little like the southern fried chicken burger, and the 48-hour beef brisket burger – at a glace.

5. Pattysmiths, Murdoch
Located inside the Murdoch University’s Student Hub, you just know the burgers are going to be good – there’s no way the students are gonna let a bad burger slide, word would spread quicker than you can spread butter on a bun. Pattysmiths are a national burger chain and they’ve got it down with their: mac and cheese royale burger, plant patty burger, and spicy double beef burger – amongst others, of course.

6. Block Smoke & Grill, Yanchep
Block Smoke & Grill may just be worth the drive. Specialising in smash burgers and smoked meats, Block Smoke & Grill has got you covered – covered in lip-smacking sauce that is. Get a load of their: chook and bull burger; and the smash bacon hash with a smashed beef patty, cheese, short-cut bacon, hash brown, house-made onion jam, and truffle mayo.

7. Flipside Burgers, Fremantle and Wembley
These ones a little more on the artisanal side of things – nothing outrageous, and somewhat simply but effective. Flipside Burgers serve up delightful numbers from their retro-esque stores including: the blue train; the chilli-ander, the pear and parmesan, and a number of vegetarian burgers too.

8. Alfred’s Kitchen, Guildford
Now this is one stunning burger joint. Alfred’s Kitchen is dead set a converted train carriage from yesteryear and has been in operation since 1946. While their new menu is currently in the works, you can munch upon simply huge burgs, or go for more of a sandwich-style of goodness, which too are extremely generous portion. Always worth the drive.

9. Short Order Burger Co, CBD & Fremantle
With two stores now running in Perth, Short Order Burger Co is a hot local favourite. Their Fremantle outpost is licenced too, so you can sink a fresh tap beer while biting into a succulent burger. 10. Local Bird, Tuart Hill
If you’re looking for massive burgers that are guaranteed to put you in a self-assisted food coma, look no further than Local Bird. They’re known for their juicy burgers and fried chicken. Fan of spicy eats? Be sure to try the spicy bird. Good luck trying to get your gob around it, though.

11. Hoodburger, Multiple Locations
You don’t need to travel all the way to the States to get that retro burger diner experience. Hoodburger has you covered with four flagship stores around Perth to choose from. Tuck into American-style burgers made with smashed beef patties as well as imported American soft drinks such as Dr. Pepper and root beer.

12. Two Stacks, Fremantle

13. Bad Love Burger Co, Leederville
Here’s one for the Leederville legends. If you remember the popular Smashburger BBQ pop-up regularly held at Bayswater Bowls Club, well, the organisers of that went on to open their first brick and mortar burger joint in Leederville. Welcome Bad Love Burger Co, home to buttermilk fried chicken burgers, cheesesteaks, and booze to wash it all down.

This epic southside eatery has been slinging burgers and smoking meats since it opened in 2017. Aside from their burgs, which are the obvious main attraction on the menu, you can also tuck into porky mac ‘n’ cheese, smokey brisket beans, fresh fried chicken and more.
