Portuguese custard tarts, also known as Pastel de Nata, are a god-tier dessert, there’s no denying it. The flaky buttery pastry, the gooey aromatic custard centres. I’m salivating just thinking about them. If you’re after authentic, fresh-baked Portuguese tarts every ten minutes, look no further than Café Pastel, Perth’s only café dedicated to them.
Here, you’ll find Portuguese tarts in four different flavours: traditional vanilla, salted chocolate, Biscoff as well as Apple and rhubarb with a biscoff crumb. For 1 Portuguese tart, it costs $4, however, you can mix and match with 4 for $15, which sounds a little more viable. One might not be enough, to be honest, and it’d be rude not to try them all, right? Plus, you could grab a box and share them with your housemates, lover, friends, or colleagues, or eat them all yourself (no one’s judging here).
Aside from the desserts, which are obviously the main event here, Café Pastel also serves up delicious coffee to pair with your sweet treat.
Café Pastel is open for takeaway tarts and coffee from Sunday – Wednesday from 8am – 5pm, until 9pm on Thursday, then until 10pm on Fridays and Saturdays, to satisfy that late-night sweet tooth of course.
