Harry Potter is proving to be a timeless classic – it’s loved around the globe by the youth of today and of yesteryear, and in a nationwide-first, Karrinyup Shopping Centre has transformed into a spellbinding oasis inspired by the beloved Wizarding World.
From Tuesday 27 September until Sunday 9 October, experience the Halls of Hogwarts, Platform 9 and 3⁄4, Hogwarts Express and a whole heap of other iconic locations from the Harry Potter films.
As you pass through the gates of Hogwarts and enter the Great Hall, the cheeky sorting hat will be ready and waiting for your hot little head where a photo opportunity is most definitely in order. Then move through to the Potions Class and get your hands dirty, slimy and what not, before continuing to the Gryffindor Common Room to test out the invisibility cloak for another enchanting photo – that’s if you show up in the image!
And what’s a Harry Potter experience without a nice, clean game of Quidditch. Put your skills to the test on the pitch; surrounded by your fans, decked out in true game-day spirit with flags, coloured banners and stadium stands. If you’re a Quidditch novice, no matter, there’s a Seeker training game to help you get off of your feet! And you guessed it – there’s another happy snap opportunity while completing a Quaffle toss.
If you make it this far along, test your agility skills while dodging the treacherous Whomping Willow in the iconic Flying Ford Anglia – where again, serves as a prime photo opp.!
Karrinyup’s General Manager, Ben Davis said hosting this Australian-first signals Karrinyup’s ambition to continually deliver amazing experiences for the community. “As a leading entertainment destination in Western Australia, we are so thrilled to be able to bring this event to the people of Perth.”
“We’ve worked closely with Warner Bros. Themed Entertainment to ensure we delivered an entertaining and unique Harry Potter event that can only be experienced at Karrinyup in Australia,” Ben shares.
Make sure you book your spot though, with the school holidays still in full swing, the Harry Potter Wizarding World Experience is bound to fill up – there’s not Expecto Patronum-ing your way to the front of the queue here unfortunately.
And although the sessions are extremely limited and you just might’ve missed out – you can still check out the Hogwarts Express and Platform 9 and 3/4 where no bookings are required. Here, you can grab the handles of a trolley as it runs through the enchanted brick-wall entrance to the platform, and get a super cool snap for Instagram while you’re at it.
And if this is the first time you’re hearing of Harry Potter – may we suggest a night in on the couch and a big bucket of popcorn on hand.
