For the 10th year, the annual Farmer On Your Plate held in Forrest Place is coming to the city this Friday 2 September. The affair aims to celebrate the importance of agriculture in Western Australia and discuss the significance of food security – as well as being a delicious and fun filled day for all.
From 9am until 3pm this coming Friday, you can expect to be surrounded by farm fresh produce, with opportunities to meet the farming families, engage in cooking demonstrations and sampling, snuggle up to farm animals, relax with live entertainment, and try your luck with raffles prizes – and it’s free to attend!
Hosted by Farming Champions, their information tent will be offering Buy West Eat Best show bags so you can collect information from the stallholders as you journey around the event space. Or if you’re planning on coming along purely to watch and learn – Perth chefs, Chris Taylor, Tom Metcalfe, and Vince Garreffa will be showcasing top-quality Western Australian produce with cooking demonstrations from 11am.
As you mosey around Forrest Place; connect with the animals from Nigel’s Incredible Creatures of York, while your ears feast on the live tunes from musicians Kim Wainwright, and Nick & Lucy. Or simply take a seat and watch the Moorditj Mob dance group from Wesley College who will performing stories and art to reflect their connection.
And since the purpose of Farmer On Your Plate is to celebrate the high-quality produce grown here in Western Australia – take this rare opportunity to meet the farmers who produce the food on your plate.
