Okay it finally appears to be well and truly summer here in Perth and lord knows we love some sweet relief of the palate. We all got quite the fright this week with the misinformation that Baskin-Robbins stores in P-Town were set to close, but don’t worry they’re not going anywhere. Nor are Kuld Creamery, announcing that they’ll be expanding with two new locations this summer.
Ice cream enthusiasts, Mati and Kaitlyn Kuld from Kuld Creamery will be opening a pop-up venue on the shores of Rottnest Island at the iconic snorkelling and bathing beach spot, the Basin. As well as a permanent store in Northbridge over the coming weeks.
Kuld’s Rotto pop-up will take up the prime real estate from 1 December, dishing out exclusive Rottnest-inspired flavours such as Quokka Traxx, and Kuld classics including: chocolate fudgy brownie, lemon butter, and carrot cake, all served on top of their famous and freshly-made waffle cones or between homemade cookies.
While the Northbridge store will be very conveniently located on the corner of Roe and William Street. The opening date is yet to be announced, but you can still get your Kuld fix at their long-standing stores on the iconic Beaufort Street strip in Mt Lawley and on Essex Street in coastal Fremantle.
“We’ll be serving a range of our dairy and vegan ice creams, all locally-made in our Freo shop, that will be perfect for that much-needed, post-swim refreshment, pit-stop cycling snack, or cool-down treat at the Basin,” Mati shares.
While Kaitlyn says, “We’ve been looking to open in Northbridge for a while, and when this location became available, we knew the space was perfect. The food, culture, art, and energy in Northbridge is fantastic, and we’re so excited to join the neighbourhood at a time where the city is going through a big transformation.”
The pair, hailing from Toronto in Canada, fell in love with Perth on a trip around Australia a number of years ago. The Kuld Creamery’s distinctive flavours are produced by a play on the duo’s North American heritage; using the freshest locally-sourced ingredients to make their homemade cookies, fudge, brownies, and fresh-fruit jams. These are then blended with their high-quality ice cream bases which create those sensational sweety treaties.
The Rottnest Basin pop-up officially opens on Thursday 1 December and will trade daily from 10:30am to 5pm until late April 2023. And Kuld Creamery Northbridge will open sometime this summer, trading from 11am to 10pm from Sundays to Thursdays, and 11am to 11pm on Fridays and Saturdays – late night snacks incoming!
