Good things come to those who wait, like a raft that is a bar.
Five years after the idea was first thrown up in the air, Perth’s newest bar and event space has landed. The Raft, as it has been so christened, is permanently moored in the middle of the Swan River, so getting there isn’t going to be as simple as walking on water.
The open-air platform will be accessed via The Raft’s private vessel that departs from the Barrack Street jetty. However, the 250-patron venue will only be available to the general public on Sundays when individuals, couples and small groups will be able to set their eyes on the gorgeous surrounding views. Otherwise, The Raft will operate primarily as an event space and will cost the party planners among us 2k to hire out completely, which I don’t think is that bad considering the unparalleled location.
Sunday seshes will only set punters back $50 with one drink included.
Aside from the ‘Salty Sundays’ events planned for every weekend, there will be other opportunities for Perthlings to get on board. October saw Bottomless Brunch, which served up free-flowing Prosecco as well as a Halloween event. Coming up, though, you’ve got the Christmas and New Year’s Eve parties to look forward to. Check their events page for more info.
The project, which we watched come together on Instagram, is the idea of siblings Dan and Katie Chrystal.
