The WA Government’s latest budget reveals several relief packages for targeted vulnerable groups. Drivers in the state will soon be able to claim $100 to supplement their fuel costs amid rising prices. This could offer some reprieve to Western Australian motorists. With over $1 billion designated for what is termed “cost-of-living relief” measures, these payments will be introduced starting July 2026. In fact, sources report that the government has set aside about $200 million specifically for this scheme.
How to collect the $100 fuel payment offered by the WA government
Anyone with a WA licence (even a valid learner, provisional, or extraordinary licence) can claim the amount from the government. The process is straightforward under the Fuel Support Payment. From July 1, 2026, the payouts will start. Before that, however, one must download the ServiceWA app. Now, if you don’t have a Digital ID, create one on the Federal Government’s myID app and use it to log in.
Come July, and you should be able to enter your driver’s licence details in a section dedicated to offers on the ServiceWA app, immediately getting access to the money. Kindly note that this is a one-off payment; once you run out, you cannot claim it again.
If you’re not digitally savvy or don’t want to use the phone app to claim your $100, there are alternate methods. According to the Western Australia Government website, other options, including a paper one, “will be available.” However, a date for this availability is yet to be announced.
Apart from the motorists, the government’s latest budget has set aside relief for students of all ages, families with children, public transportation users, and pensioners and concession card holders.
