It’s finally Pride Month, and WA’s very own Pilbara is celebrating in the best way possible: with a festival! With activities taking place across the north-west region, the Pride fest is currently underway from June 2-25, 2026. Located to the north of the state, the Pilbara has a rich natural landscape and Aboriginal art culture despite its sparse population.
Held in the towns of Hedland, Onslow, Karratha, and Newman, here’s all you need to know about the Pilbara Pride Festival 2026!
Pilbara Pride Festival 2026: Storytelling, dance parties, and markets
In June each year, the Pilbara region takes on a rainbow tint for Pride. This year, the festivities have been extended to four locations, with 28 different events planned. Some highlights include Rainbow Story Time, Drag Queen Bingo, Pride Markets, and, of course, the Parade. Additionally, expect a dinner under the stars, trivia, comedy and movie nights, and a few burlesque and dance parties.
RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under S2 runner-up Hannah Conda, Prawn Cracker Spice, Sunting Wong, Jessica James, Sarah Tonin, Tootz and Ivana Kebab are some big names at Pilbara Pride.
Education is an important part of celebrating the queer community. Apart from the parties, the festival includes a few workshops on the importance of connection and allies (Peers Helping Peers and Pride WA Diversity & Inclusion workshops).
