The Western Australian Jazz Project (WAJP) has been enriching Perth’s jazz scene, especially since their successful debut, A Very Jazzy Christmas in December last year, which drew in a crowd of over 800. The concert also saw headlining performances from musical theatre legend John James Ohara and singer-songwriter Reigan Derry. Now, The Western Australian Jazz Project is back for another concert, this time teaming up with musical legends such as Sara McLiver, Jamie ‘Slim Jim’ Mercanti, and Jamie Oehlers.
The Jazz at the Symphony performance will take place on Friday February 18 at Perth Concert Hall at 7.30pm. Combining the likes of jazz, classical and contemporary music, this first-of-its-kind concert is set to showcase the best of each genre. So if you’re a lover of any of these music types, then this is one show you cannot miss.
The concert will also become home to the premier of a brand-new composition commissioned by rising star Vanessa Perica, alongside music from Debussy, Dvorak, Ella Fitzgerald, and Stephen Sondheim. The Western Australian Jazz Project has a goal of expanding the jazz scene in Western Australia, and it’s looking like they’re on the right track to do just that.
Tickets for Jazz at the Symphony are priced at $30 each and can be purchased here.
