Is there a better place to be than springtime in Perth? The sun graces our skies most days, the colourful foliage is blooming and the birds are chirping – watch out for those pesky magpies though. And is there a better way to spend a weekend’s day than roaming around a market – smelling the freshly baked goodies and browsing the local crafts? Well the month of September is packing two markets that are worth jotting down in your calendar.
1. Perth Upmarket, Crawley
The Perth Upmarket is making its return on Sunday 18 September at the University of Western Australia’s Winthrop Hall. Between 10am and 4pm, you can roam the picturesque grounds around the Hall while looking for your springspiration – from sustainable fashion and bespoke jewellery, to handcrafted furniture and incredible contemporary homewares, there will be plenty of unique finds at the quarterly Upmarket.
On the big day you’ll find a whopping 180 of Western Australia’s premium creatives, gourmets and artisans showcasing their products. Namely; The Honeycake selling their delectable desserts, Paperteer offering their sculptures made from book and dress pattern paper, and Whipped Cream Bath & Body with their handcrafted self-care range – to name a few!
As you pace your way around the plethora of stalls, the ambiance will be amplified by live music which will echo throughout the historic grounds – soothing for the sensors indeed.
Although located at the University along the busy Stirling Highway, there will be free onsite parking for your transportation ease and needs. Find out more information about the Perth Upmarket here.
2. Perth Makers Market, Applecross
After the Perth Makers Market had no option but to cancel their Winter Twilight market at the beginning of July due to a tragic weather forecast, they’ll be back in full swing and with vengeance on Sunday 25 September. From 9:30am until 3:30pm, the Makers Market will set-up shop at one of Perth’s most beautiful cultural precincts, Goolugatup Heathcote in Applecross.
Again, more than 180 entrancing stalls will showcase their bounty just for you, boasting Western Australian made products only. The Makers Market will be packed with gorgeous handmade goods and the aromas of mouth-watering food will waft through the air. As you stroll and look, and wander and gaze, your ears will be feasting on live music from some of the State’s best performers which are yet to be announced.
