In Perth we’re lucky enough to have a plethora of cafes, restaurants, and everything in between serving multicultural cuisine from all corners of the world. And these days, plenty of places are pretty decent at catering to those who chose to omit or lessen animal products from their diet.
And for the vegans and vegan-curious of Perth, tucking into a delicious cruelty-free meal just got a little bit easier, thanks to Northbridge’s brand new restaurant and cafe, Vegan World.
Serving a mouth-watering range of South-East Asian cuisine, the sunlit, family-run and owned eatery is welcoming guests to try their vegan counterparts to the popular and traditional fare of the region.
Vegan World’s soft opening was announced via a recent social media post stating –
“We are so excited to announce that Vegan World Perth will be opening on Monday 26 December.
“You may be familiar with this location as this is where the old Loving Hut used to operate.
“During the first few months of trading, we will be operating with a smaller, limited menu as we ease into things.
“But bear with us, as in later months we will introduce more exciting dishes and what we believe to be the first vegan hotpot in Perth, so be sure to stay tuned.
“We will also be introducing an all you can eat buffet every Sunday in the later weeks following launch,” Vegan World shared with their keen followers.
Although visuals of Vegan World’s creations are limited due to their very recent opening, we can tell you that the menu enlists plant-based dishes with the likes of –
Chicken satay bbq skewers, traditional Vietnamese pho, creamy curry laksa with char siu, mee goreng noodles, asam fish, Vietnamese fried sardines with a tomatoey sauce base, rendang nasi lemak, tom yum fried rice, and fish noodle soup – all vegan of course.
Now we know what you’re thinking – ‘why do vegans want to eat fake meat?’. Well, this kind of cooking is not ‘new’, so to say – plant-based meat alternatives have been made and consumed in many Asian countries for hundreds of years. From religious reasons to traditional ceremonial purposes – the plant-based meats may not be as much of a fad as you think.
Vegan World Perth will be open for business are eagerly waiting to feed you on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays from 11am until 2pm for lunch, then from 5pm until 8:30pm for dinner service. And on Fridays and Saturdays between 11am and 2pm, then 5pm until 9:30pm. Plenty of time to get stuck into a sneaky vegan feed.
